Ashcroft Public School is a multicultural school situated in the south western Sydney suburb of Ashcroft. The school is dedicated to providing quality educational programs with an emphasis on student engagement and Quality Teaching.

We are a P-6 school with a new, well equipped preschool catering for the learning needs of our younger students. The preschool has morning and afternoon sessions catering for 20 students per session.

Ashcroft Public School is committed to a 3 year plan aimed at improving student engagement and achievement in : READING, WRITING & NUMERACY

 The school offers individual support to students in need and provides extension opportunities to students requiring more challenging opportunities. Programs include Individual Learning Plans for students in need. Well trained and dedicated staff work collaboratively to plan and implement programs which enhance the academic, social and sporting achievement of our students.

Our external (Basic Skills and NAPLAN) and school based assessment data indicate growth in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. We are extremely pleased with the growth, however, the increase of student academic achievement in these areas remain a major school priority.

The school receives extra funding through the Priority Schools Program (PSP) and Priority Action School (PAS) program which allows us to implement specific programs aimed at increasing student achievement. The philosophy of the PSP is FAIR GO, FAIR SAY, FAIR SHARE, FAIR CONTENT. This is a philosophy that the school aims to demonstrate in all aspects of school life. In 2010 the PSP and PAS funded programs include :  The Writing Project, The Language of Mathematics, Reading Organisation, and the continued development of a Community Library.

Technology is an integral part of the schools current and future planning. The school has a focus on integrating technology across all Key Learning Areas and providing opportunities for students to present their learning to their parents. A well maintained computer room and the ongoing purchasing of current technology keeps the students up to date with the ever changing technological world. Interactive whiteboards will form the basis of our content delivery, engaging students and providing greater interaction.

The staff at Ashcroft Public School acknowledges the support provided to the school by the Ashcroft community and enthusiastically encourages all forms of parent and community involvement. A small but very active Friends of Ashcroft (P&C) works towards raising funds and providing activities for all students.
